The last 10 weeks have been very hard for me from being sick to pre term labor and spending the night on medication in the hospital to having a baby in week 7 but somehow I managed to finish and with what I think will be pretty decent grades. I was told my daughter was cholicy then we were seen by her doctor the following week and the doctor thinks she has acid reflux so she is on a medication for it and well it doesnt seem to be helping and we have a follow up apt on thursday with her doc to see how this medication is working and if it is showing any signs of relief, I just want my baby to feel better I don't want her to cry when she eats anymore it is so sad to know that nothing I can do will help ease her pain.

Saturday, November 20, 2010
Well just two days ago I spent a few hours in the Emergency room with my 17day old baby, her doc advised I take her in to get checked out for what I believe they called a pyloric stynosis and well the blood draw (which was horrible to watch) and the ultrasound showed that there was no sign of that which is a blockage from the bottom of the stomach that doesn't let the stomach release into the intestines so that would be bad but she didn't have that the x-ray showed that her entire abdomen was full of gas and that is why she has been screaming in pain and also she has a little bit of what he called GERD so they told me what medications to use to try and relieve her symptoms until she can pass the gas on her own, poor baby girl.

The last 6 weeks
The last 6 weeks for me have been very eventful I was trying to finish up my CNA class along with going to school online full time and doing clinicals and managing to take care of a 3 year old all while pregnant. Had a few scares of pre term labor but they got it under control each time now it is just the waiting game I am 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow and could deliver any day now having tons of contractions and signs of labor so we will just wait and see what happens with this pregnancy.

CNA Exam
So I think I passed, but wont be able to check results until Wed. I feel real good about the written exam and as for the pratical I got easy skills, use of a bed pan and recording the out put, putting on gown and gloves, nail care on one hand hand washing and cath care. I saw the paper and I don't know what the letters mean but I had A all the way down so I think that is good because I couldn't imagine having it be bad if they were all A, the only thing I know I forgot and I hope it isn't enough to fail me is when i took the actor off the bed pan I forgot to offer her to wash her hands, but that is because I am so use to when someone uses a bed pan at work I clean them up and they never get their hands dirty so I hope I can still pass with that error!

What a day
Well, I am exhausted I woke up around 7am like usualy on Monday and spent the day doing things around the house and then I had to work Night shift from 10pm to 630am and then when I got off work I slept about 45min until Shyann (my 3yr old) decided she wanted to be awake and so we were up ALL day until about 7pm when my mom got home and I tried to lay down until 9pm but I couldn't because I knew I had to be up to work so then I worked from 10pm until 630 am and then came home and couldn't sleep again because I had to go to a OB apt where I was told sure enough I am still stuck at 2 cm and next week I get my membranes stripped so hopefully we will have a baby. Then I wrote my paper for week 7 when I was working Night shift because I had 8 hours of down time so I figured that would be a good time. And it was so now I am turning it in and hope that I get a good grade on it.

Professor
Well, professor I am at home not in the hospital or the pumpkin patch ha ha. I am home and working part time at a Skilled Nursing Facility and taking care of my 3yr old daughter and still attending school. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of MaLea. But I guess after they stopped my labor she decided she wanted to "bake" a little longer ha ha. The D.R was saying any day now for about a week, but nothing yet so next week if I am still pregnant I get to have my membranes scrapped and she said that should send me into labor that evening so I am hoping next week I will have a new bundle of joy, I will keep you posted!

Magnesium
I spent the night on Sunday in Labor and Delivery I went in around 1 pm with contractions and they tried this shot to stop them it didn't work they were coming every 2 minutes apart and getting painful, so their next step was an IV with fluid because sometimes contractions are brought on by dehydration but that didn't work either they were still 2 minutes apart and getting stronger and I had dilated to a 3 almost so they admitted me and hooked me up to a very nasty drug called Magnesium Sulfate and it was horrible it took about 5 hours of it to get my contractions under control but I had to stay on it for about 16 hours it was horrible made me feel like I was hit by a bus I just sat in the bed and cried it was so bad, so about 12pm Monday I got released on STRICT bed rest and cant get up other than to eat and use the bathroom. I can not work until Monday next week when I am 35 weeks so if I go into labor again then they will deliver her, all I have to say is when that time comes she better come out and not have to be induced that would be so horrible!!!!

Labor???
So there is a possibility that this baby may come tonight or tomorrow, I have been in and out of the OB for a few days now on a medication to stop my contractions and the medication is now not working anymore so I have stopped taking it and and the contractions have gotten stronger and close all day and now they are really starting to hurt me and I have a lot of pressure, but the hospital that I go to is about 30min from my house so I don't want to drive up there to soon I am trying to wait until my water breaks or they get bad bad so I'll keep ya'll posted on what happens!

Labor and Delivery
Well last night I went to sleep around 9pm and was awaken from a dead sleep by bad contractions but also felt very sick to my stomach so I waited about an hour until 1130pm and then decided to go to OB and they told me that I am 1 CM dilated and I am 50% effaced and they picked up 5 contractions on the monitor in 1 hour. So they sent me home and put me on modified bed rest. Now I know that 1 cm doesn't mean anything you can walk around that way for weeks before labor starts but for me that is a great sign because with my first child I had to be induced and at least this way I know something is going on and maybe I wont have to be induced. Although she does need to stay in my belly until I am at least 35 weeks then if she wants to grace us with her presence then she can safely be delivered. So 35 weeks makes it next Friday! I can not wait to meet my little daughter!

Orientation
Tomorrow morning starts my orientation for my new job! Yes, I am starting a new job at 33 weeks pregnant! We have to do two eight hour days of orientation with all the different departments in the building so we learn what each one does and how it works. Of course we then go over our enormous amounts of paper work that you have as a new employee. Then we will be scheduled for 5 days of on the floor orientation with another CNA and after that we are on our own working, well not alone there are others on the floor but we wont have to Shadow then we can take care of others on our own. Well, I hope tomorrow goes well wish me luck!

About me
Hey all the teacher said we could write about whatever we wanted to write a little bit about myself. I graduated high school in 2004 started my CNA class and then was certified later that year I worked as a home health aide and a CNA in a skilled nursing home for about 2 years. From there in 2006 I enrolled in Ashmead college of massage which was then changed to Everest Institute. I graduated from there in March of 2008 It should have only taken me 11 months to get my degree but I took 6 months off when I had my first daughter.
Now I live in a small coastal town in Oregon and I work at a facility that is a Skilled Nursing Home. Today officially marks me 33 weeks pregnant woo almost done! I currently have a 3 year old daughter that will almost be 3 and a half when the new addition arrives which is also a girl. Two teenagers at once that are girls someone save me now ha ha.
My first pregnancy wasn't all that joyous for me and this one has not been much different there always seems to be something that goes wrong I get sick more often I have never been on more medication while pregnant when when I am not pregnant. I have what I call all day sickness for the first 6 months of my pregnancy I lost 22lbs when I was unable to normally eat due to the sickness. But it is all worth it in the end because I get a beautiful bundle of joy. I am although getting my tubes tied after this baby is born I would rather not have anymore babies I don't mind adoption or marrying someone with children I just don't want to be pregnant again!
I am going to online classes because I can't take the time off work, and can not afford the daycare to attend a college in my area this works better for me with my schedule. I want to get my degree and become an Administrator at either a Nursing home Memory Care Facility or at a Hospital. I love the health care field have been doing it for 7 years now but would like to get into the office side of it.
