Well just two days ago I spent a few hours in the Emergency room with my 17day old baby, her doc advised I take her in to get checked out for what I believe they called a pyloric stynosis and well the blood draw (which was horrible to watch) and the ultrasound showed that there was no sign of that which is a blockage from the bottom of the stomach that doesn't let the stomach release into the intestines so that would be bad but she didn't have that the x-ray showed that her entire abdomen was full of gas and that is why she has been screaming in pain and also she has a little bit of what he called GERD so they told me what medications to use to try and relieve her symptoms until she can pass the gas on her own, poor baby girl.

  1. Hi Ashley,

This happened to my oldest daughter when she was an infant. Since I was a new mother, I had no idea what was happening except that she was screaming in obvious pain, and I could do nothing to help her! My local pharmacist prescribed paragoric, which is an opiate. They do not sell it over the counter any more but that was 1971 and Arkansas. It worked great to ease her pain and allow some tranquility for both Shiloh and her Mom, me.

We had discovered she was allergic to my milk and was totally lactose intolerant, but when I fed her soy milk, that gave her more gas! She learned to eat fruits and veggies at a very young age. Fortunately, I breast fed her long enough for her to get the anti-bodies.
